Mujeres con Sazón was invited to march as a Foundation in the Puerto Rican Parade in New York on June 8th. “It was a unique experience; the excitement of the people we had the opportunity to greet and share with was very meaningful to us. We were very well received. We definitely got off on the right foot and with great enthusiasm. Without a doubt, we planted a flag in New York,” commented Chef Marilyn López, President and Founder of Mujeres con Sazón.
When we were invited to participate in the Puerto Rican Parade this year, we didn't hesitate for a second to say yes and get to work. Part of our goal is to promote Puerto Rican cuisine as part of our cultural heritage. We want to be a bridge between farmers, cooks, chefs, and people in the culinary industry so that our cuisine is known in every corner of the planet. And launching the foundation at an event as important as the Puerto Rican Parade in New York seemed like the perfect opportunity. This event is a platform that is known throughout the country and around the world. Marching down Fifth Avenue with the Puerto Rican flag in hand and receiving the love, emotion, and affection of Puerto Ricans in our extended homeland was our driving force, now more than ever, to launch our mission.
Today we are a group of women full of dreams, cooking for our country, for our identity, and for the generations to come. Next year, we're going for more.
